John Grimley

John has a passion for helping people.  He works diligently with clients to understand their objectives and goals.  In an industry that has grown increasingly complex, John endeavors to keep things as simple as possible for his clients.  He believes in quality, efficiency and transparency, which in turn, allows for an advantageous fee structure for clients.

John has worked in various Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Institutional Sales roles over the past 25 years. During that time, John helped build and nourish relationships with several large and successful institutional investors.  John started his career at Alex. Brown & Sons in Baltimore where he developed a passion for working with and investing in growth companies.  Most recently, John was a Senior Director managing over $1 billion in assets for a large U.S. Bank in their wealth management division.  He joined Independence Square Advisors in order to have the flexibility needed to always put clients’ needs first when it comes to investment decisions, service levels and fees.

John was a four-year member of the men’s rowing team that won two national championships at Brown University and is a member of the 1993 team that was inducted into the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame.  John has completed numerous marathons and enjoys hiking, yoga, swimming, and meditation and is interested in alternative forms of improving physical and mental health.  He is an active member of the community and a USA swimming Stroke and Turn Judge. John is a grateful husband to a passionate teacher and a loving father of his three children. If John is not in the office, you will most likely find him attending one of his children’s swim meets.
